History-
After many years of service the Berlin Volunteer Fire District ceased to provide ambulance service to the Town of Berlin. The Town Board of Berlin attempted to work with the Town Boards of Grafton and Petersburgh to create a Tri Town Service which failed. During that period the Town Board purchased an ambulance and placed it with the Grafton Ambulance Squad. This ambulance was housed and run from the Berlin Town Complex from January 1st,2021 until September 30th, 2021. When the Tri Town Ambulance efforts failed, the Town of Berlin pursued obtaining a Municipal Certificate of Need for the town. This two-year certificate was awarded on October 1st,2021.
In furtherance of these efforts and in support of the creation of an Ambulance Tax District Notice of Public Hearing thereon prior to the regularly scheduled Town Board Meeting on December 14, 2023 was published and posted as required by law. Notice posted in Eastwick Press, on the Town webpage, posted in Post Offices.
The Town Board of the Town of Berlin makes the following determinations after hearing thereon:
6 Dec
Routine monitoring on 12/06/2023, showed inadequate chlorine levels in the drinking water. Disinfection system is not working. Chlorine is a disinfectant that is used to destroy harmful microbes that could be in the drinking water.
DO NOT DRINK THE WATER WITHOUT BOILING IT FIRST. Bring all water to a boil, let it boil for one minute, and let it cool before using, or use bottled water certified for sale by the New York State Department of Health. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation until further notice. Boiling kills most bacteria and other organisms in the water.
At the Town Hall
The Town Board of the Town of Berlin will be holding a public hearing on the proposed resolution to establish an Ambulance Taxing Authority.
